The Smart Business Traveller’s Delhi
Delhi rewards travellers who plan around its geography rather than its distances. Ten kilometres can take twenty minutes or an hour depending entirely on the time of day. Here is how we would structure a working week from Connaught Place.
Why the Centre Still Wins
Connaught Place remains the most useful business address in the city, because it is the one place almost everything is roughly equidistant from. From the hotel, the Supreme Court is about 3 km and the Delhi High Court 3.5 km. Bharat Mandapam and Pragati Maidan — where most of the capital’s trade fairs and conventions are held — are 2.2 km away. The VFS Global visa office on KG Marg is under a kilometre, which matters more often than people expect.
Move by Metro, Not by Car
Barakhamba Road and Rajiv Chowk stations are both within walking distance, and the lines running through them cover Cyber City, Noida and Old Delhi. During the 9–11 AM and 5–8 PM peaks the Metro is not merely cheaper than a car, it is materially faster. Keep a car for evening dinners and airport runs.
Setting Up to Work
Every room here carries a work desk and chair, complimentary Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, an LED television and packaged drinking water. The Executive Room at 24 sq m (258 sq ft) is the efficient choice for short trips; the Executive Suite at 49 sq m (527 sq ft) adds a separate living area, which is what you want if you will be taking calls while a colleague works in the same room. Both suites also carry a bathrobe, slippers and a dental kit.
Small Meetings, Same Building
For an internal review or a client meeting of up to fifty people, The Windsor banquet is on site — 650 sq ft, arrangeable as a boardroom for thirty or theatre for fifty. It saves the twenty minutes each way that an external venue costs you.
Breakfast Before the First Meeting
Kaffa, the lobby-level restaurant, serves its breakfast buffet from 7:00 to 10:30 AM and stays open until 11 PM. An early flight in and a 9 AM meeting is a comfortable sequence rather than a rushed one.
