Places to Visit Near The Hans, New Delhi

One of the quiet advantages of a Connaught Place address is that the city’s set-piece sights are close enough to visit without surrendering a day to traffic. Distances below are from the hotel.

How to Group Them

Old Delhi rewards being treated as a single outing: Red Fort, Chandni Chowk and Jama Masjid sit within a few hundred metres of one another, so go once and stay for half a day. Start early, take the Metro to Chandni Chowk, and walk. New Delhi’s monumental axis — India Gate, the Secretariat buildings and the Kartavya Path lawns — is a separate, gentler excursion best saved for late afternoon.

Two half-days, correctly grouped, will show you more of Delhi than three days of criss-crossing the city.

When to Go

Monuments are least crowded in the first hour after opening. Many central sights close on Mondays, so keep that day for markets and the Metro. Between October and March the walking is a pleasure; in high summer, restrict outdoor sightseeing to the early morning.
